On the occasion of the European Heritage Days in Wallonia, whose theme this year is “Heritage & Innovation”, the Wellington Museum is organizing a number of activities around the progress of coal and its decisive impact on our way of life.

Thanks to guided tours, animations and an exhibition on Art Nouveau, you will be immersed in the heart of the innovation of our museum!

All activities during the Heritage Days require a prior reservation. Please note that the activities are totally free! Please note that all animations are in French

Saturday

Guided tours (10am & 3pm):
As you walk through the Art Nouveau room, from the rooms of the former house of the paveur Humbert Olivet to its large exhibition room, you will discover the impact that the arrival of coal had on this building, but also its impact on our environment and our way of life

Guided tours for children (2pm):
Guided tours specifically for children. These are simplified so that children can better understand the history.

Workshop for young people (10am & 5pm):
During this workshop, children will be able to learn about the power of steam formerly produced by coal and water. In collaboration with “Le Tamanoir ASBL”.

Activities

Temporary exhibition (from 09/09 to 12/09):
From Friday 09/09 to Monday 12/09 from 09:30 to 18:00, come and discover a temporary exhibition on Art Nouveau. This one will honor our heritage through this artistic movement with detailed and explanatory panels. The exhibition is free and is open from 09h to 18h.

Conference on Art Nouveau (13/09):
Mrs. Cécile Dubois, responsible for the heritage in Schaerbeek, author, lecturer and guide will come to speak to us about the history of Art Nouveau in Belgium.

The conference will take place at 7 pm. Please note that the price of the lecture is 5€ and it is free for members of the Wellington Museum.
